In this card, we see the driver looking ready to go, determined and eager to move forward. The lions before his chariot are lying down, now what to do? The two animals being opposites represent opposing factors along one’s own life path. When we don’t know which way to go, or we feel pulled in opposing directions; it can be hard to get going and stay moving. The lesson this card presents is that despite opposition and outer influences, you are always the captain of your own ship. Failure isn’t what kills dreams. It is the unwillingness to keep moving that does.
Position 1: Background | Present Concern
This card suggests that you may be facing a bit of confusion at this time and are taking another look at your choices and where you are headed. Despite feeling a bit uncertain; you are compelled to move forward regardless.
Position 2: Your Drive and Motivations
You feel a need to force a resolution to a confusing situation but are not sure what to do or where to go. You are driven forward by a need for change and/or resolution after a period of conflict.
Position 3: What’s Blocking You – Fears and Subconscious
As a challenge, the Chariot suggests you may feel you are not being supported or that others are working against you or simply refusing to help. There can be a sense of disillusionment, but also a desire to push past obstacles, sometimes so much desire that you may act impulsively instead of planning your path carefully. This can lead to mistakes and having to redo. At the opposite end of the spectrum; you also have to make sure that a sense of insecurity or frustration isn’t leading to procrastination. It can be easy to stop moving when we feel thwarted.
Position 4: Perspective and Further Awareness – What you Need to See Clearly
There are no right or wrong choices when it comes to long-term goals, as every path leads to growth, even if it means you have to risk some failures. The decisions you make, regardless of what they are, lead to wisdom and understanding gained. There are times we have to walk our paths and just say “what will be will be” and take that journey anyway. Life’s challenges and detours give you strength when you choose to embrace them and learn from them. The only true failure in life is an unwillingness to try.
Position 5: Course of Action
If you are compelled to take action to make changes, that is the call of your spirit pushing you to grow in a new direction. Our power lies in going with change, creating opportunities and not resisting. Push forward and be proactive or you will likely find yourself in a continuing cycle of disappointment.
